MOBILE FOODBANK HEADS TO SUBIACO
Help is on the way for people doing it tough
We are really pleased to announce that we have added another location to our Mobile Foodbank Service.
One of our amazing team members Trent, recently identified a location were a large group of people were struggling to access Foodbank. Following a chance meeting with some people from a community housing project, Trent researched the location and proposed an additional stop at a location that would ensure those people could get the food support that they need.
The new location in Subiaco at Wandana House located at 42 Barker Road, is available from 12.30pm – 1.00pm each Wednesday.
We know that transport to our branches can be a barrier for people trying to access food assistance. Our Mobile Foodbank is a great way to get food a little closer to people’s homes.
Our Mobile Foodbanks now visit 26 locations weekly from Rockingham in the south to Two Rocks in the north. We have just launched our first regional Mobile Foodbank in Denmark on a fortnightly basis, providing hampers to the Community Resource Centre with more regional locations to launch this year.
The Mobile Foodbank service is provided in partnership with our registered charity partners.
Foodbank WA’s Mobile Foodbank has been a welcome and very effective way to get food relief to individuals for who transport can be a barrier. The cost of living, having the transport itself, and lately, the cost of fuel will prevent some people from being able to access our Perth Airport or regional branches.
Mobile Foodbanks stock a wide variety of hampers, regularly providing meat hampers, dry food hampers which contain pantry staple items such as baked beans, rice, pasta and long life milk (to name a few) and fresh fruit and vegetable hampers at a very low cost. The Mobile Foodbanks also carry a variety of other packs, such a beverage packs (coffee and tea), cleaning packs and every so often we have an excess supply of dairy products such as yoghurt or bread which we give out for free.
