Bush Tomatoes and Red Dirt
Our trip to the Pilbara delivering nutrition education
We love the Pilbara, the red dirt and trying new things like eating bush tomatoes.
Recently we travelled again to the Pilbara to deliver seven Food Sensations® for Schools, three Food Sensations for Parents and one Learn. Cook. Share for Youth sessions. We also did some educator training to community sustainability and capacity in spreading nutrition messages across the lifecycle.
In collaboration with Newman Neighbourhood Centre and Creating Communities, we hosted a youth community cooking activity in Train Park cooking and sharing lots of yummy food with many children and community who joined.
Thank you to Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service for inviting us to partner with them on this project and enabling us to deliver our programs to some of the most remote Western Australian communities. Nutrition-focused education programs like these help to ensure healthy eating habits are formed at an early age and maintained through to adulthood.
