Grain Industry Collaboration

PROVIDING PANTRY STAPLES

Pasta and cereal are pantry staples in Australia and we need them year round to help vulnerable Australians put food on the table. Anyone in the grain supply chain can get involved in our grain program; from growers, traders, bulk handlers and millers, to packaging companies, manufacturers and transport providers.

As bill shock, job loss, reduced hours, and caring for loved ones continue to take a toll on Australians across the country, the need for food relief is rising. Each year, we need more packets of pasta and boxes of cereal to help those doing it tough. The Foodbank Grain Program is essential for us to meet the increasing need, and we can’t do it without the farmers and partners who support us in any way they can.

FOR EVERY $1 INVESTED, WE CAN DISTRIBUTE $5 WORTH OF FOOD TO PEOPLE WHO WOULD OTHERWISE GO WITHOUT.

The impact of this program is boosted through collaboration with our manufacturing partners, who donate the production time, and their ingredient suppliers who provide donations, discounts, or subsidies. This model means our programs are sustainable, efficient and impactful.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

The process for donating grain is simple, transparent and can have a significant impact for someone in need. A donation of just half a tonne of grain provides more than 12,000 serves of cereal for people in need.

Grain growers anywhere in Australia can help with even the smallest grain donation, of any type or any grade.

Grain donation process

  1. Nominate the quantity of grain (any type and any grade) that you wish to donate and advise the trader/storage provider.
  2. The provider will transfer the grain to Foodbank’s NGR number:

    FOODBANK NGR: 13319395
  3. You can get a Tax Donation Receipt from Foodbank for the weight and description of the grain donated.
  4. 100% of the value of your donation goes into our pasta and cereal products, manufactured right here in Australia.
  5. Foodbank distributes food relief items across the country, with 40% going into rural communities.

Bulk handlers can also help by donating left over grain or shrinkage, supporting their clients to donate throughout the year, or by financially matching client donations.

Grain traders and brokers can support by providing their clients with the option to donate, and also by financially matching their clients’ donations, or by donating a percentage of each trade.

Financial Supporters can also donate or become a program sponsor to assist this important program.
