Gerry Andersen OAM bids a fond farewell to Foodbank
After 11 years leading Foodbank NSW & ACT, outgoing CEO Gerry Andersen bids Foodbank a fond farewell on 30 October 2020 as part of the managed transition to John Robertson who was announced as his replacement CEO earlier this year.
“I’m leaving two months early as the transition is complete. I know Foodbank is in safe and competent hands with John at the helm and feel my work here is done, with the organization in great shape. I wish everyone here the very best for the future,” said Gerry.
He added, “I have loved every minute leading Foodbank through a significant period of growth in sourcing and supplying food to increasing numbers of hungry people in the NSW and ACT. I’ve had the privilege to work with amazing, committed people, charities, corporate donors, volunteers and farmers and thank all of them and the Board for the amazing opportunity to make a positive difference.
“The highlights I’m particularly proud of include building the Glendenning Distribution Centre with the help of NSW government funding; launching our Schools Breakfast Program; and supplying 150 million meals to hungry people over my time at Foodbank. I am now looking forward to my next adventure as am keen to keep contributing to worthy causes,” said Gerry.
Peter Kelly, Chairman of Foodbank NSW & ACT thanked Gerry for his strong leadership and years of service to the organization, saying: “Gerry’s considerable knowledge and expertise in food sourcing, supply and distribution along with his FMCG and agricultural connections helped drive the organization forward and we are forever grateful for the passion he applied to his leadership for the benefit of many. He leaves with our sincere thanks and best wishes.”
